Personal Philosophy of School Counseling In schools all over the world today, School Counselors are crucial to assisting students, parents, school administrations, and the community. I believe that creating an effective counseling program that supports the counselors’ role in education will foster a close interaction between students and counselor to achieve success in their personal/social lives, academic achievements, and college readiness careers. The Purpose of School Counseling School counselors help students in setting up their career path to college, ensuring that student achieves academic success and maintain a positive personal/social behavior during their educational years. As stated in The role of the professional school†¦show more content†¦Therefore, counselors should know â€Å"WHAT† counseling programs to put in place to meet the needs of the students, administrators, parents, and the community. Delivery: The delivery is how the school counselor will develop this program. In building this program, a delivery system is used to include the following: core curriculum; individual education plan (IEP); create a personal goal and plan; offer system support, etc. (Erford, 2015). Management: According to ASCA School Counselor Competencies (ASCA, 2012), school counselors should own the data, aptitudes, services and insolences required to bring about a school counseling program similar to the ASCA National Model. For example, into the education system, school counselors must be able to administer the school counseling assessment and the time used for assessment. Accountability: School counselors, should comprehend, have the capability, expertise, and possess the knowledge, abilities, skills, and boldness attitude needed to observe and assess the progressions and outcomes of a school counseling program aligning with the ASCA National Model (ASCA, 2012).
